Simon Singh wins ruling in the libel case with the British Chiropractic Association

On 14th October 2009, at the Royal Courts of Justice, Simon Singh was granted permission to appeal the preliminary ruling on meaning in his libel case with the British Chiropractic Association (BCA). London has become the libel capital of the world and that must be stopped. Certainly, individuals and companies have the right to protect their reputations when they are unfairly harmed by false or defamatory statements, but this should be balanced with the right of individuals to comment and express freely their opinion – a right also protected by law.

Kaguya, kaguya !!!!! Did you ask moon’s permission to crash……??

It was in my mailbox this morning. I’ve read it twice, because…. I wasn’t completely sure if this was serious or just a joke.    You may know that a Japanese lunar orbiter named Kaguya was scheduled to crash into the moon at about 2,30pm ET. Apparently, some people seem to have a problem [...]

After Jesus on toast, now an image in a plastic lid

Ok, that is….. interesting, at least. One family in Ystrad, Rhondda, say they see the face of Jesus on the lid of a jar of Marmite. After the image of Jesus on toast just a few weeks ago, now a similar image appeared on a plastic lid. I must say, the preference for food related [...]

Vaccinate Your Kids and Save their lives.

Despite the abundant evidence that vaccines don’t cause autism the campaign against vaccination in children is increasing “dangerously” in the United States and Australia. Europe remains, so far away from this antivax movement, and I sincerely hope to stay as such. The problem is serious and it is growing. This dodgy antivax business must stop, [...]

"Diluting" human lives

It is one of these moments that you are thinking that “Enough is enough”. Just moments ago I read this, THE parents of a nine-month-old girl who died from septicemia were responsible for their baby’s death because they shunned conventional medical treatment for her eczema in favour of homeopathic remedies, a court heard yesterday. A [...]

The Art of MisInformation

Mark Roberts is a cartoonist. This terrific and humorous cartoon shows the effectiveness of the Art of Misinformation. It’s focus is on climate change; it seems that the big polluters actually suppressed evidence and denied the conclusions of their own scientific advisors! In my opinion, this could also apply to other situations. Click to enlarge [...]
