It is time to seize – the clean energy – future.

Putting aside all the critics about his actions, inaction, ways of doing things, this is the message I would like to keep from the 27 May 2010 Obama’s Press Conference on the status of the BP oil spill. We need to stop messing around with nature. We all need to develop a more responsible attitude to physical environment. We need to realise that by protecting and maintaining our resources we protect and sustain our lives, our future. We need to move away from oil and work instead to drive forward the global clean energy revolution.

Για τον “διαφορετικό” πολιτικό λόγο του προέδρου Obama, από τον Paul Krugman

Στην πολιτική στρατηγική του προέδρου των ΗΠΑ Mr. Obama την χρονιά που πέρασε αναφέρεται ο Paul Krugman στο Op-Ed με τίτλο «What Didn’t Happen» στους New York Times στις 17/1/2010.

U.S.-India Green Partnership to Address Energy Security, Climate Change, and Food Security

President Barack Obama and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh launched and agreed to strengthen U.S.-India cooperation on clean energy, climate change, and food security by launching the following initiatives:

Climate Change agreement: Local Solutions to a Global problem.

I believe that a global deal is the best way to fight climate change, but if this is not backed up by a variety of efforts at the national, regional, and local levels, there is not guarantee that will work well. Also, it will take too long to produce positive results.
Climate change is the result of many individual and local decisions. Local solutions may be the most efficient and prompt way to reduce greenhouse gases, fight environmental problems, such as deforestation and pollution and mitigate the impacts of climate change.

Discussing climate change in Washington. Reinfeldt:”This is like putting a man on the moon. There is a lot to be solved before we can get there and we don’t yet know exactly how we are going to achieve it.”

“Over half of the meeting was dedicated to the issue of climate change”, said the Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt after a meeting with President Barack Obama, ahead of an US-EU Summit on Tuesday, the 3rd of November.

Barack Obama announces $3.4 bln in grants for smart grid

President Barack Obama today announced the largest single energy grid modernization investment in U.S. history, funding a broad range of technologies that will spur the nation’s transition to a smarter, stronger, more efficient and reliable electric system.

Obama: “The world is now engaged in a peaceful competition to determine the technologies that will power the 21st century”

Obama: And that’s why the world is now engaged in a peaceful competition to determine the technologies that will power the 21st century. From China to India, from Japan to Germany, nations everywhere are racing to develop new ways to producing and use energy. The nation that wins this competition will be the nation that leads the global economy.

A New Beginning. The President’s Obama Speech in Cairo.

“I’ve come here to Cairo to seek a new beginning between the United States and Muslims” I hope, everyone – especially the leaders around the world – could listen to this speech at least once…

Good to hear this ….

President Obama in Prague: “Together we must confront climate change by ending the world’s dependency on fossil fuels by tapping the power from the sources of energy like the wind and the sun and calling upon all nations to do their part.” “And I pledge to you that in this global effort the US is [...]
