Germany: Record rise in solar capacity
Carsten Koernig, the Managing Director of the German Solar Industry Association (BSW), told Reuters that this late surge of photovoltaic installations “would take the forecast past last month’s increase to 2.5 GW from 2 GW.” This is a world record for installed solar capacity in one country during one year.

European Commission announces winners of environmental management awards (EMAS)
Seven organisations have won the European Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) Awards for excellence in environmental management. The winners were announced at an awards ceremony in Sweden last night.
The 2009 awards focused on the supply chain including green procurement. This year 32 organisations from 12 European countries were nominated. The seven winners were selected by a jury of six experts in the field of environmental management and public procurement.

That is WATER!!!!!!!! Water costs a fortune in Rock Werchter Festival area. €2,50 the small bottle. And it is not only that. It is not allowed to bring your own bottle of water in the festival area. Organizers search people’s bags and take any bottle they bring with them. For security reasons, I presume.
