National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) peer-reviewed report “State of the Climate in 2010” shows that climate trends and occurrences of individual extreme events are consistent with what scientists expect to occur in a warming planet. The report details some of the events that helped make 2010 memorable as one of the most extreme years [...]

The Psychological Responces to Global Warming Messages
Despite the fact that the scientific evidence that anthropogenic activities are behind global warming continues to mount, belief in the phenomenon has stagnated in recent years. Matthew Feinberg at the University of California, Berkeley, speculated that using children at global-warming warning campaign videos and presenting them as the main victims, “along with the apocalyptic descriptions of global warming’s possible consequences, might threaten people’s natural tendency to believe that the world is a fundamentally fair and stable place.”

Mapping Global Warming
Whether the cause is human activity or natural variability, one thing is certain. The world is getting warmer.
According to an ongoing temperature analysis conducted by scientists at NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS), the average global temperature on Earth has increased by about 0.8°Celsius (1.4°Fahrenheit) since 1880. Two-thirds of the warming has occurred since 1975, at a rate of roughly 0.15-0.20°C per decade.

Chinese leadership can save humanity in the fight against global warming, says James Hansen
Dr. James Hansen never give up urging governments to act against global warming. In a recent op-ed “The price of change” in the South-China Morning Post on November 3, 2010, he says that China could become the leader in the fight against global warming.

Draft paper by Jim Hansen “Current GISS Global Surface Temperature Analysis”
A new email sent out last week by Jim Hansen about a draft paper titled “Current GISS Global Surface Temperature Analysis.” Dr Hansen indicates some of the main conclusions: (1) Contrary to popular belief, global warming has not stopped nor has the rate of warming even slowed down in the past decade (Figure 21).

Linking global sea-level to global temperature. Global average sea level may rise three times faster than the IPCC predictions.
Stefan Rahmstorf of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research and Martin Vermeer of Helsinki University of Technology in Finland, say that sea levels may rise three times faster than the official predictions of the IPCC and the global average sea level may increase by as much as 1.9 metres (6ft 3in) by 2100.

Warming increases the risk of civil war in Africa
“The march of climate change could make civil wars much more likely, new research suggests, with models predicting nearly 400,000 extra deaths in African conflicts by 2030. “That suggests a study, published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), the first comprehensive examination of the potential impact of global climate change on armed conflict in sub-Saharan Africa. It is based on data from 20 global warming models and a historical examination of the links between climate and conflict in sub-Saharan Africa.
