Climate Change: It’s a mens’ club.
Last week, the U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon announced a new climate change financing group. The group’s task which has 19 members is to allocate funds to developing countries to help mitigate the impact of climate change.
There are no women in this task force. All 19 members are men. It seems that climate change is a man’s job.

The State of World Population: Connecting climate change to human population and the status of women
This 2009 edition of The State of World Population shows that climate change is more than an issue of energy efficiency or industrial carbon emissions; it is also an issue of population dynamics, poverty and gender equity.

Why I have not become a femme fatale
I am so disappointed, I haven’t discovered these great 10 pointers at the beginning of my career. A lot of things would be different!

Silence is the enemy (2)
You may recall that few weeks ago a group of bloggers were trying to draw attention and raise awareness of sexual violence against women – with particular emphasis on the situation in Liberia where 6 years after the war ended, sexual violence has been used to control both men and women, and forced sex is regarded as a man’s ‘right’.

Silence is the enemy
Sheril Kirshenbaum at The Intersection thought that we can do something, we can make a difference. She decided to do something, and “SILENCE IS THE ENEMY” is that something. She tries to draw attention to the plight of girls in Liberia, and elsewhere around the world. “Silence is the enemy” is a blogospheric awareness campaign to sa

In other countries this “unceasingly conduct”, with very young women, especially, from a Prime-minister, would have caused shock waves. But, not in Italy! Here, things are different. Newspapers in Italy show that his popularity among the Italian voters has been rocketed, despite the fact that his behaviour has been criticised – mildly though- by the Vatican.

The lazy, the egalitarian, the Catholic
Despite the progress, and changing attitudes, it seems that gender equality is still out of reach for most women, at least in the every one of 18 countries examined by the OECD. The gold metal for leisure goes to Italians; they enjoy 80 minutes more each than women, apparently watching TV, sleeping, while the women do the ironing, clean the house.

Microcredit and trust brings economic justice.
Reading Vivian’s Norris de Montaigu post “Trust Is the Answer: Yunus and the Future of Everything” in the Business Fights Poverty the other day, I remembered that I had seen recently an interesting interview of Muhammad Yunus about the effects of access to mobile communications on the lives of lower-income people in Bangladesh. It was in [...]
